Teenagers in Florida, US, have been caught dumping buckets of trash into the ocean. They went to the police after the video went viral and were convicted for their actions.
This video sparked outrage in the United States and around the world. We see American students aboard a pleasure boat sailing in the waters of Florida. Suddenly, one of the waters, shirtless, throws two containers of garbage into the sea.
We then see beer cans and lots of other rubbish spilling into the sea while the boat sails in a strong swell. The scene was filmed and posted on April 30 on social networks.

“Serious offense”
Two teenagers aged 15 and 16 went to the police this Friday, May 3, 2024, reports the New YorkPost. They were convicted of third-degree pollution for polluting the waters off Boca Raton, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
State conservation officials condemned the teens’ behavior and called their actions “serious offense”. “Florida’s natural resources are precious and we should all do our part to protect them”they underlined, cited by the New YorkPost.
Up to 46,000 euros fine and 5 years in prison
The family whose 15-year-old son was piloting the boat admitted that the children ““Should certainly participate in community service and ocean conservation efforts to better understand the importance of our community and environment.”
According to our American colleagues, teenagers risk a fine of up to more than 46,000 euros ($50,000) and five years in prison.
