Four years ago, on January 6, 2021, a crowd of Trumpist supporters took over the Capitol, the seat of Congress in Washington, heated by the outgoing president who refused to recognize his electoral defeat against Joe Biden. On this same black day for the United States, Congress ratified this Monday the incontestable victory of Donald Trump last November. The septuagenarian will therefore return to the White House on January 20, this time by peaceful means.
Under the presidency of Kamala Harris, representatives and senators certified Donald Trump’s victory without blinking an eye. This step was innocuous until January 6, 2021. The parliamentarians had to be evacuated in a hurry to escape the rioters. They met a few hours later to endorse Joe Biden’s victory, but 147 Republicans refused on the basis of unfounded accusations of a stolen election, or more than a third of the elected officials from Donald Trump’s party. .
