Kremlin advice to Zelensky for whom the situation is “getting worse” – La Nouvelle Tribune

Faced with protracted conflict and growing international tension, the Russia renews its calls toUkraine to revise its strategic position. The Russian President Vladimir Poutine proposed a ceasefire, accompanied by specific conditions: the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from four regions partially occupied by Moscow and the abandonment of Ukraine’s aspirations to join theNATO. This proposal, made the previous Friday, was categorically rejected by Ukraine as well as by the UNITED STATES and NATO, considering them an affront to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Kremlin’s reaction was not long in coming. Dmitry PeskovKremlin spokesperson, clarified this Sunday that the military situation on the Ukrainian front “ was getting worse », insinuating that Ukraine should seriously consider the Russian offer. Peskov emphasized that it was not a “ ultimatum“, but rather a “peace initiative adapted to the realities on the ground”. He insinuated that any leader truly dedicated to his nation would heed this proposal for the good of his people.

These exchanges take place in a context where a summit, organized in Switzerland at the initiative of Ukraine, aims to unify the international community around a negotiation strategy with Russia. This summit seeks to solidify a common front, although the absence of China and other key players highlights the difficulties of reaching consensus.

The stakes are high, because beyond the fighting, it is a war of wills and principles that is being played out. Ukraine, supported by many Western countries, maintains that Russian demands are unacceptable and undermine fundamental principles of international law.

This dialogue of the deaf bodes ill for the immediate future of the region. If the proposals are officially intended to end hostilities, they also reveal a Russian strategy aimed at legitimizing its territorial gains while weakening Ukraine militarily and politically. International pressure could intensify, but without the participation of all key players, the chances of reaching a lasting solution remain uncertain.

The outcome of this standoff will have profound repercussions, not only for Ukraine and Russia, but also for European geopolitics as a whole. The ability of nations to come together to defend principles of sovereignty may well dictate the course of future international crises. The next few days will therefore be crucial, both on the battlefield and in the international diplomatic arenas.
