The Canon IXUS 285 was announced at the same time as the IXUS 175 and 180 at CES 2016. This entry-level and particularly compact model does not integrate a CCD sensor, but a BSI CMOS sensor of 20 million pixels coupled with a 12x zoom equivalent to a 25-300 mm f/3.6-7. Its features are basic: Full HD video, Wi-Fi, NFC and 461,000 dot screen.

The Canon IXUS 285 offers everything that is most basic: automated photo modes, a standard screen, a Full HD video mode at 30 fps. Its compactness and ease of use are its main assets. The rest is rather ordinary, both in terms of image quality and the responsiveness of the device. If you have a few euros more to spend, prefer the Sony HX60 or the Canon SX710 HS, certainly thicker, but more versatile.
