Friday, October 1, a large-scale military parade was held in Algiers for the 70th anniversary of the insurrection.

A military parade with great fanfare took place in the streets of Algiers on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the War of Independence. The show of force lasted two and a half hours. “We ensured that the military parade lived up to the dimensions and symbolism of this 70th anniversary,” said Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

On November 1, 1954, around thirty attacks by the National Liberation Front targeted symbols of the French colonial presence. At the origin of this insurrection, six leaders of the FLN, including Larbi Ben M'hidi. In a press release published Friday, November 1, Emmanuel Macron recognized 's responsibility in the assassination of this man. A strong symbol since he was considered a national hero and an emblem of Algeria's independence. The Algerian president has still not reacted to Emmanuel Macron's statement on the assassination of Larbi Ben M'hidi.
