Despite an almost unchanged budget of 63 billion euros (+0.2%), the government announced the elimination of 4,000 teaching positions when presenting the 2025 budget on October 10. Arousing the ire of the unions who denounced “a real bloodletting. »
Main target of this measure: public primary education (nursery and elementary), with a drop of 3,155 positions. The reduction proposal adopted by Jacques Grosperrin being 2,000, “the number of full-time equivalents eliminated in public primary education will thus be 1,155.”

In addition, the parliamentarian insisted on two points: “The need to anticipate future demographic shocks by working today on the territorial school network for the next decade, and the need for particular attention to rural schools. Class closures in these areas too often mean irremediable abandonment of their populations. »
“The government will ensure the financial admissibility of the proposed reduction,” continues the Doubien elected official. “Beyond the gesticulations and the fury of some, it is through seriousness and listening that we will succeed in forging the budget for 2025 that France needs. »
