(New York) The American presidential election was the backdrop to the New York Halloween parade this year, with imitations of Donald Trump, his running mate JD Vance and even Kamala Harris.

In the Manhattan district, tens of thousands of people participated in the Halloween parade, which was particularly political this year.
Some appeared with their faces hidden behind a mask bearing the image of Donald Trump. Others preferred a red wig and a red cap marked with the name of his movement “ Make America Great Again » (“Make America Great Again”).
In the procession, dozens also wore cat costumes, an undisguised reference to the misogynistic expression used by Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, who in 2021 called childless women that they were “women purchase “.
Slogans like “Don’t go back” or “freedom of the body” appeared on the signs brandished by these New Yorkers.
A stone’s throw from the parade, a vast costume and accessories store welcomed latecomers looking for a last-minute disguise.
“We have masks of Trump, Biden and Harris,” Joey Katz, 22, a student at Hunter College and employee of the store, showed AFP.
“The Trump masks, I couldn’t even give you a total number, but I sold five to ten a day. For Kamala’s masks, I sold one or two throughout the season,” he added.
Near the parade route, Jay Munez, 29, from Queens, the New York borough where Donald Trump resides, wears a red cap bearing the Republican candidate’s image.
Asked about the choice of this costume, the latter replied, not without irony: “I support this man 100%”.
The New York Young Republican Club, an organization of young Republicans, held its annual rooftop party, “MAGAWEEN,” on Saturday, again a reference to Donald Trump’s movement. Make America Great Again ».
