The 2025 Finance Bill (PLF 2025) was submitted for approval to the National Assembly by the government of Nadir Larbaoui. Algerian deputies are called to discuss, amend and approve the PLF 2025, the ambition of which is to improve the purchasing power of the Algerian citizen, but what are the most budget-intensive sectors of this new finance bill?

It is important to know above all that the Finance Bill (PLF 2025) provides for a commitment authorization of 15,787 billion dinars, or nearly 109 billion euros. The text in question provides for numerous measures aimed at giving a boost to the middle class and alleviating the suffering of the most deprived, even if this desire is not really seen in the overall figures for the sectors.

70% of the PLF 2025 budget will go to 5 sectors

Indeed, there are five sectors which devour around 70% of the entire state budget, or 11,000 billion dinars, or nearly 76 billion euros. And it is not the Ministry of Defense which will benefit from the largest portfolio for the year 2025, but rather that of Finance which will receive the tidy sum of 3,635 billion dinars (around 25 billion euros) from the PLF 2025. But it should be noted that if the finance sector will be the most budget-intensive in 2025, it is because it includes the sum of 2,198 billion dinars (15 billion euros) in the category of “Unallocated Credits “, covering expenses not programmed by the government.

After finances, it is national defense which will benefit from the largest budget with an amount estimated at 3,349 billion dinars, or approximately 23 billion euros. And it is the National Education sector which will complete the podium of the most budget-consuming sectors of the PLF 2025. In fact, Education will have 1,645 billion dinars, or a little more than 11 billion euros.

In fourth position, the Interior sector will benefit from the sum of 1,365 billion dinars in budgets (around 9.4 billion euros) while the health sector closes the Top 5 of the largest State budgets, with an allocated amount of 1004 billion dinars, or 6.9 billion euros. It is important to specify that among these five sectors, there are two which will see their budgets increase compared to previous finance laws, in this case that of National Defense and Health.
