Nearly 200 amendments

In all, nearly 200 amendments were adopted, considerably upsetting the financial balance of the text. Modifications ultimately all swept aside by a final negative vote, by 29 votes to 22, the National Rally finding itself with the right and the center in the rejection camp.

However, the far right wanted to sanction “the attitude of the government and the majority parties which […] do not want to negotiate anything,” explained Jean-Philippe Tanguy. So even if it means finding yourself on the same side as the Macronist David Amiel, who castigated a “fiscal butchery” of around 50 billion euros.

“The text had become unsustainable,” lamented Prime Minister Michel Barnier in an interview with JDD, warning against a “Lépine fiscal competition”.

Insoumise in particular had congratulated itself in recent days on “victories” over “superprofits” and multinationals, for dizzying amounts.

“It is the demonstration that there was a majority” for this “NFP-compatible” budget, estimates the president of the Finance Committee Eric Coquerel (LFI), who despite the final rejection considers that “the mission is accomplished” .

Opinion obviously opposed to that of the Minister of Public Accounts Laurent Saint-Martin, who hastened to denounce a “fiscal bludgeoning” that is both “unacceptable” and “irresponsible”, when the executive wants on the contrary to “strongly curb our spending public”.
