The Holcim Sustainable Building Foundation is calling for applications for the Holcim Foundation Awards, the world’s largest competition for sustainable design.

The Holcim Foundation, of the Holcim Group based in Switzerland, to which the cement manufacturer LafargeHolcim Côte d’Ivoire belongs, has launched, since October 1, 2024, a call for applications for its sustainable construction design competition called “Holcim Foundation Awards 2025”. .

According to a note sent to APA, registrations have been open since October 1, 2024 for this prestigious competition initiated by the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction. Participation takes place online, on the website https://awards.holcimfoundation.org/home.

Participation in the competition is free and is aimed at projects supported and commissioned by clients, but which are in the detailed design phase and which have not yet been carried out. Projects already under construction are also eligible, provided construction is not completed before February 11, 2025, the closing date for applications.

With the aim of raising the standards of sustainable design internationally, the jury will be chaired by internationally renowned architects from the five regions covered: Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America , the Middle East and Africa, and North America.

The winners will share a prize of a total amount of 1 million USD, or 600,000,000 CFA francs, distributed between 20 winning projects (200,000 USD or 120,000,000 CFA francs per region). A total of four winners per region will be recognized, and one winner per region will be selected for a special recognition award.

“We are very honored to have world-renowned architects at the top of their game helping us identify the creative talents that can accelerate the construction culture shift that our planet and societies need,” he said. said Laura Viscovich, executive director of the Holcim Foundation.

Laura Viscovich specified that the independent juries will evaluate the applications according to the Foundation’s objectives in terms of sustainable construction. The Awards ceremony will take place during the Foundation’s flagship event, the Venice Forum, on November 20, 2025, which will close the famous Architecture Biennale of the Italian city.

The Holcim Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to support people who are accelerators of change for sustainable construction, while showcasing innovative ideas.

In addition to its flagship Awards program, the Foundation partners with leading academics and practitioners to create educational opportunities and host events to facilitate the exchange of ideas and best practices.
