The Durrells – An English family in Corfu : What is this delightful series with Keeley Hawes and Josh O’Connor about?

In 1935, the Durrell family died out in Bournemouth where they lived frugally. The members of this tribe are non-conformist and adventurous. Louisa Durrell, a widow, tries to run the household and it is no easy task. The eldest, an aspiring writer, wants independence. Leslie, her second son, only thinks about guns, Margo, her daughter, is not smart, and the youngest, Gerry, prefers the company of animals to humans. They decide to escape the English drizzle to settle under the sun of the Greek island of Corfu. Freed from the customs of England in the 1930s, the Durrells rub shoulders with the country’s rough but warm inhabitants and rub shoulders with incredible wildlife, in the heavenly setting of their decrepit villa, but with a magnificent view of the sea. Spiros, a driver de Taxi, does everything to help their integration into village life. True to their impetuous characters, the family experiences astonishing adventures.
