For Ludivine, the experience Married at first sight has not always been joyful. The 33-year-old married Raphaël, for whom she had an immediate crush, in Gibraltar. Despite their 77% compatibility, Raphaël did not vibrate for Ludivine and decided to divorce during the assessment. Before making his decision, the Bordeaux native sounded out his father, Jean-Pierre. “I’ll be honest… I figure the door is still open. If you had that understanding, why not get it back. It’s not like there was never anything, there was something. So maybe it can come back,” his dad had advised. Words that did not convince him to give his marriage a second chance. Raphaël is not the only one to have received advice from Jean-Pierre before the assessment of Married at first sight. “During this month which passes between the return to France and the assessment, [Raphaël] did coaching with Estelle. I have his dad on the phone, these are things that are filmed but not broadcast.. I have his dad on the phone and to summarize the conversation, this is perhaps also why it was not broadcast, you have it in images, there is a scene at his house and his dad says our telephone conversation”Ludivine explained to Sam Zirah before revealing what Raphaël’s father told her. “You got married, you have to try. Plus, something happened that day so you have to try to get over it. That’s also the value of marriage. You don’t give up the first time like you do in traditional relationships.”Jean-Pierre tried to reason with, without success.

If Ludivine ended up accepting her divorce from Raphaël, a radical decision by her ex-husband particularly hurt her during the experience. “Where I felt bad and had a hard time accepting was the fact of not having a chance in real life, outside of these five days of intensive and tiring filming”she admitted before adding: “Once we return to France, we can go for a coffee at least once…” Ludivine did not hesitate to clearly state her thoughts: “The fact of not following the values of marriage and trying, I experienced that badly.”
