Season 2 of “The Last of Us” will have fewer episodes than the first, but good news still awaits fans of the series adaptation of the cult video game!

It has already been confirmed that fans of The Last of Us will have to wait until 2025 before the adaptation of the cult video game returns to television. Bad news to which is added today the announcement that this season 2 will be shorter than the previous one.

Good and bad news for season 2

Video game creator Neil Druckmann and series co-showrunner Craig Mazin confirmed to Deadline that seven episodes are in fact planned for season 2, while the previous one totaled nine episodes. But this bad news also hides good news for fans of the program!

During this same interview, the two creators of The Last of Us discussed their intentions to extend the series beyond season 2. If a season 3 has not yet been officially ordered by HBO, the intention of the two writers to produce several additional seasons should nevertheless satisfy fans of the program.

“We don’t think we’ll be able to tell the full story we have in mind through Seasons 2 and 3, as we’ve decided to take our time and pursue interesting directions as we’ve already started to do. with season 1”Craig Mazin confided to our American colleagues.

It was also confirmed during this interview that the series will be adapted from the two existing video games, but will not go beyond existing hardware sources.
