For the first time in the history of telecrochet, a contemporary song was chosen as the anthem of a promotion. It will be the title “Recommence-moi” by the artist Santa, released in May 2024, which the artist completely rearranged for the show.
Music, Let me dance, I’m not a hero… Since the beginnings of the Star Academy on TF1, a little over 20 years ago, the various promotions of the Château de Dammarie-les-Lys took up a cult title to make it their official anthem.
But for the first time in its history, telehook is an exception to the rule. For this new season, launched this Saturday, October 12, the academicians of the 2024 class will cover not a classic, but a recent song: the title Start me again by the artist Santa.
“It’s more than a cover, it’s a reinterpretation”
Released in May 2024, this track is the most streamed French-language female title of the year and has 21 million plays on Spotify. Before this invitation, Santa had already been invited to a bonus of the Star Academy in 2023, where she sang her hit Salted popcorn in duet with candidate Helena.
“It’s a huge honor and a huge compliment that I’ve been given,” Santa confided to the newspaper Le Parisien.
“They called me and said: ‘We usually only take classics.’ I told myself without pretension that they wanted to make a classic and that resonates with the ambition of my project,” continues the singer.
The day after the launch bonus for the twelfth season of the Star AcademySanta then went to the castle of Dammarie-les-Lys, to meet the academicians and record the new anthem. For the occasion, the singer imagined “new arrangements” and changed certain lyrics of her title “so that it fits their story”.
“I hope you like it. It’s the first time that my words will resonate in the voices and in the hearts of other artists. It’s more than a cover, it’s a reinterpretation. (.. .) It’s a song that allows us to unite and celebrate. It’s a first for me too,” assures Santa.
In 2023, the promotion of Star Academy had the title of anthem At the end of my dreams by Jean-Jacques Goldman, while the academicians of the 2022 edition covered the piece Don’t leave without me by Celine Dion.
