The “Parrains par Mille” association is looking for volunteers in Morbihan: godfathers or mentors for children in difficulty. “It’s not about reception,” specifies Caroline Abdel, director of children and families at the departmental council. “For a minimum of six months or a year, the volunteers meet their godchild once or twice a month,” explains Margaux Lann, head of the PPM 56 branch. “We form pairs locally. Many young professionals are getting involved. » Within a year, 120 children (from three to 21 years old) should benefit from this link with an adult who is neither a member of their family nor a professional in the social sector, but with whom they can play sports, go to the cinema, discuss their educational orientation…

Since 2022, the Taquet law has required departments to offer this link with a resource person to children entrusted to child protection. In Morbihan, there are 1,830 children in this situation. 2,000 others benefit from educational assistance at home. The Department therefore chose “Parrain pour mille” to set up this system, with an annual budget of €100,000. The first information meetings for volunteers are scheduled for November 30 at 11:30 a.m. and December 12 at 6:30 p.m., by video.

Registration on www.ppm-assos.org. Information: 06 95 14 33 65.
