Donald Trump still has a crush on Kim Jong-un. « I was very friendly with him. He liked me, I liked him. We got along well and I’m sure he’s happy I’m back », declared the new American president on January 20, sending a signal to the North Korean dictator on the first day of his second term. On several occasions during the electoral campaign, the Republican candidate expressed his desire to pick up the thread with his partner from the historic Singapore summit in 2018, which he considers one of the highlights of his first term. And with whom he exchanged a rich correspondence, compared to « love letters »after threatening to vitrify his hermit kingdom a few months earlier.
But, in Pyongyang, Kim politely snubs these appeals, displaying his lack of enthusiasm for rekindling an uncertain “bromance” which leaves him with a bitter taste. The regime barely mentioned Trump’s triumphant re-election…
