The Patriots have found their defensive coordinator

Rebuilding continues in Foxborough. This Wednesday, ESPN reports that Terrell Williams will be Vrabel’s defensive coordinator for the upcoming season. A logical choice, since Williams was immediately identified as the team’s first choice.

And for good reason, Williams and Vrabel already have a solid shared history. In Tennessee, the two coaches indeed had the opportunity to work together from 2018 to 2023, i.e. until the head coach’s last season in Tennessee. Terrell Williams was during this period assistant head coach as well as defensive line coach. A position he took over this season with the Lions, also with responsibilities in coordinating the running game. Aged 50, he took on a defensive coordinator position for the first time in his career.

In addition to Williams, the Patriots also formalized yesterday the (re-re-re) appointment of Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator. Jeremy Springer, special teams coordinator, was also confirmed in his role.

After Ben Johnson and Terrell Williams, Aaron Glenn?

If in Massachusetts the staff takes shape, in Michigan he feathers himself. A few days after their surprise elimination against the Commanders, the Lions have already lost Ben Johnson (HC, Bears) and now Terrell Williams. Departures that call for another, since Aaron Glenn is insistently cited as the new head coach of the New York Jets. And even if Dan Campbell is not worried, the offseason promises to be eventful in Detroit…
