ATTACKERS
Brock Nelson, NYI (vs CBJ) – The New York Islanders veteran had only one point in eight games between December 17 and January 5. Since then, he has scored seven points (three goals, four assists) in five games, including three two-point games. Nelson is used on the first wave of the power play, and he could benefit from it against the Columbus Blue Jackets, who are 26th in the NHL in short man efficiency (74.6%).
Artturi Lehkonen, COL (vs MIN) – The Finnish forward had quite a game in the Avalanche’s most recent victory with two goals and two assists. Lehkonen has now scored six points, including four goals, in his last five games, after a four-game pointless streak. The Avalanche face the Wild, who they have beaten in the last five meetings between the two teams – including a 6-1 win on Jan. 9 in which Lehkonen scored once. Colorado ranks fifth in the league with an average of 3.36 goals scored per game.
