The Châteauguay Sun | Snow loading spread over two weeks in Châteauguay

With no response from his employer, a blue-collar worker from Châteauguay contacted the Journal because he wondered why the city had not started loading snow into the streets. Here are the explanations.

The snow was collected on D’Anjou and Saint-Jean-Baptiste boulevards, after the latest precipitation, but not on the other major arteries, notes the employee, whose identity is protected since he is not authorized to speak to the media.

“It’s been more than 72 hours, normally we start blowing. What annoys me is that the citizen will end up complaining that he is bogged down and it will pass on the backs of the blue-collar workers, but we are ready,” he mentions.

Questioned on this subject, the City specifies that a first collection was made this week in the school sector and on Saint-Jean-Baptiste, D’Anjou, Saint-Joseph boulevards and Parkview street. “This operation will continue next week, mainly for collector streets,” specifies Sarah-Maude Geneau, communications advisor to the City.

As for the deadlines for the complete snow collection, the City affirms that it is carried out over several days “in order to respect the working and rest hours of our teams as well as to take into account other operations in progress on the territory such as spreading, compacting snow as well as infrastructure maintenance.
