It was a little before 7 p.m. this Thursday evening, January 23, when an RTM bus driver on line 91 was violently attacked by a passenger who hit him on the head with a baseball bat. The attack occurred on Boulevard des Libérations, in the 11th arrondissement of Marseille, at the Caillols-Hôpital stop.
According to our information, the user became upset when the bus driver asked him to put out his cigarette.
Aged 47, the driver was taken care of by Marseille firefighters before being transported to hospital where he is being treated for head trauma.
On Facebook, the president of the RTM Catherine Pila assures all her support for the injured tramino worker.
-A general right of withdrawal was immediately decided and all Marseille drivers returned to the depot, responding to the call launched by FO RTM: “Faced with this unacceptable act, we call on all the machinists of the four bus centers to mobilize in a sign of solidarity, in order to denounce this violence and the insecurity that drivers face on a daily basis..”
