“Three people were arrested and placed in pre-trial detention,” the Mulhouse prosecutor’s office told AFP, following the discovery of the body of a man on December 24, 2024, in a box in Mulhouse, confirming information from RMC.
This concerns the victim’s ex-partner as well as her two children, young adults aged 19 and 22. All three are suspected of murder.
Identified by his tattoos
According to RMC, investigators quickly wanted to hear from the victim’s ex-wife, because she was the tenant of the box in which the body had been hidden. Rents have not been paid since June.
She was heard very shortly after the discovery and, according to a source close to the investigation, admitted to having hidden the body of her ex-husband in the box.
She was imprisoned on December 28.
The victim’s children, a 22-year-old girl and a 19-year-old boy, were arrested in recent days in the Rouen area. They were known to the police.
Heard in police custody, they admitted their involvement in the death of their father, before being imprisoned.
-The body had been packed in a burlap and plastic bag, hidden under a cupboard lying on the ground and filled with earth, a police source indicated after the discovery.
Identified thanks to her tattoos, the victim was the subject of a worrying disappearance report, a report having been made in Narbonne in June 2021.
Violence against children
The forensic doctor was unable to precisely determine the date of death, as the body was already in poor condition at the time of its discovery.
The results of the autopsy have not yet been communicated to the prosecution, but the victim’s body appears to have a fatal wound in the abdomen, according to the source close to the investigation.
The motive could be found in stories of sexual assault and violence committed against children who were then minors.
