Restoration of the Mulhouse-Dijon-Lille TGV line: “It is urgent not to wait any longer!” » declares Océane Godard

Océane Godard, MP for Côte-d’Or, sounds the alarm and insists on the urgency of restoring the -- TGV line, suspended since 2020. The elected official, aware of the crucial issues for Burgundy -Franche-Comté, calls on the Minister of Transport to the National Assembly this Tuesday, January 21, asking for concrete actions for a rapid resumption of this essential link.

A line serving regional influence

Until its interruption linked to the health crisis, this railway line played a determining role in the economic, academic and tourist dynamism of the region. Dijon, regional capital and strategic metropolis, particularly suffers from this suspension. The city, which now houses the headquarters of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), aims to position itself as a European nerve center, but its lack of direct connection with an international airport is hampering its development.

Other infrastructures, such as CREPS, a large regional high-level sports center, as well as university and research centers, also depend on this connection to increase their attractiveness and their influence on a national and international scale.

A demand widely supported by the population

The suspension of this TGV line is seen as an unacceptable step backwards by residents and local stakeholders. This is evidenced by a petition initiated in November 2022 by François Rebsamen, mayor of Dijon, which collected nearly 26,000 signatures. Residents, traders, academics, athletes and businesses have united to demand the reactivation of this key infrastructure.

A fight carried with tenacity by Océane Godard

Committed to this issue for a long time, Océane Godard had already made a wish in December 2022, when she held the position of Vice-President of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté Region, requesting the restoration of the line. Now a member of parliament, she is committed to intensifying negotiations with the government, the SNCF and local stakeholders to find rapid and effective solutions.

In her statement, she states: “The re-establishment of this TGV line is an absolute priority for our region which must not play it easy and for Dijon which will then have all the assets to fully embody its role as regional capital! It is about our openness to Europe and the world, our attractiveness and our development. It is with tenacity that as a parliamentarian I will lead this fight! »

Concrete actions in perspective

Decisive meetings with the SNCF, local authorities and the government are already on the agenda. The objective? Quickly implement the necessary measures to reconnect Dijon to major national and European hubs.

Faced with the urgency and the wait of the Burgundians-Francs-Comtois, Océane Godard says she is ready to lead this fight with determination, in the interest of her region and its inhabitants.

Press release of January 20, 2025:

Restoration of the Mulhouse-Dijon-Lille TGV line: “It is urgent not to wait any longer!” » for Deputy Océane Godard

Océane Godard, MP for Côte-d’Or, announces that it is urgent to accelerate the crucial issue of reestablishing the TGV line linking Dijon to Lille via Montbard, -la-Vallée and Roissy-Charles airport -de-Gaulle, suspended since 2020. In December 2022, then Vice-President of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté Region, Océane Godard made a wish in the name of the regional majority, demanding the reestablishment of the Mulhouse-Lille TGV line and crossing our region.

Aware of the demographic issues, attractiveness and influence of Burgundy-Franche-Comté Océane Godard will call on Tuesday January 21 in the hemicycle the Minister of Transport at the National Assembly, insisting on the urgency of reestablishing this essential link for the region and even more so for its regional capital, Dijon and its metropolis.

This rail link, interrupted due to the health crisis, played a leading role in the socio-economic, academic and tourist dynamism of Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Its suspension is not acceptable for Dijon, one of the rare French metropolises not directly connected to an international airport, thus complicating its influence, particularly since the installation of the headquarters of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) in the city, the modernization of a large high-level regional sports center like CREPS or even the ambitions of university and research centers.

Furthermore, suspending this line means not considering developments in the organization of the work of employees for whom other modalities such as teleworking make it possible to redesign professional trajectories and therefore their mobility.

Faced with this situation, a petition initiated by François Rebsamen collected nearly 26,000 signatures in November 2022, testifying to the strong expectations of residents, traders, academics, businesses, athletes, elected officials for the restoration of this strategic line.

Océane Godard is committed to intensifying negotiations with the government and the SNCF by mobilizing all local, economic and institutional stakeholders, in order to find concrete and rapid solutions to reconnect Dijon to major national and European hubs.

“The re-establishment of this TGV line is an absolute priority for our region which must not play it easy and for Dijon which will then have all the assets to fully embody its role as regional capital! It is about our openness to Europe and the world, our attractiveness and our development. It is with tenacity that as a parliamentarian I will lead this fight! », declares Océane Godard.

Upcoming meetings with SNCF officials, local authorities and the government are already on the agenda, starting this Tuesday at the National Assembly.

Océane GODARD will take her full part, in the interest of the people of Dijon and the Burgundians-Francs-Comtois
