The “Rouge Direct” collective has denounced homophobic acts in the world of football since 2016. On Tuesday, it again highlighted a chant from Marseille supporters calling for “kill these fags from Lille”during the Coupe de France match between Olympique de Marseille and Losc. Its spokesperson, Julien Pontes, already threatened in the past, filed a complaint against “Freedom for the ultras!” in the direct vicinity of his home. He attributes it to supporters opposed to his action.
If the content of the graffiti may seem innocuous, Julien Pontes explains: “I have never seen this tag anywhere other than in front of my house. I can’t believe in coincidence.” According to him, the nature of the intimidation to which he is subjected is “rise in rank” with this threat below his house: “That’s not my official address, it requires location tracking.
