After a stint on the bench of Leixoes, his training club from which he resigned on January 4, Portuguese coach Carlos Fangueiro (ex-Pétange, F91 and Swift) signed up until the end of the season with another team of Lusitanian D2: Paços de Ferreira.
Carlos Fangueiro will not have remained inactive for long. Ten days exactly after handing in his resignation to the leaders of Leixoes, 10th in Portuguese D2 who he had helped avoid relegation last May, the former coach of Pétange, Dudelange and Hesperange embarked on a new project in his native country this Wednesday.
The 48-year-old Portuguese technician has signed up until the end of the season with another second division team, Paços de Ferreira. After failing last season (5th) in its immediate return to D1, where it evolved almost continuously from 2000 to 2023*, the northern club is experiencing a much more complicated 2024/2025 financial year: after 17 days, it is 15th and first non-relegation in Liga Pro.
*With the exception of the 2004/2005 and 2018/2019 seasons.
