Even though he took part in the Canadian’s full training Thursday morning, Patrik Laine will not accompany his team to Washington for Friday’s game against the Capitals. Same thing for David Savard, the club confirmed Thursday.

Still bothered by “flu-like symptoms,” according to the team, Laine has missed the last three games. He skated alone on Wednesday and trained on Thursday with the rest of the group, without participating in the rotations of the offensive lines. Thus, as during the last week, it was Michael Pezzetta who occupied a position on the wing of Kirby Dach replacing Laine.
The 26-year-old forward has been limited 13 games so far this season after suffering a serious knee injury that deprived him of the first two months of CH action. He had 10 points, including 8 goals.
Also absent during the last three matches due to an “upper body” injury, defender David Savard was however in his position to the right of Arber Xhekaj, Thursday morning in training. The team later confirmed that the Quebecer will not be traveling to Washington.
The composition of the offensive trios and defensive duos was, moreover, identical to that of the last meetings. Goalkeeper Jakub Dobes will defend the Montreal net in the American capital. It is assumed that Samuel Montembeault will be on duty the next day, in Montreal, against the Dallas Stars.
