At least 10 people were killed and 32 others injured in a fire that occurred on Tuesday January 21 in a hotel in the Turkish province of Bolu (Northwest), announced the Turkish Minister of the Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, on the social network x.

The hotel is located in a popular ski resort in Anatolia.

The fire broke out at a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort around 3:30 a.m. local time (0030 GMT), Governor Abdulaziz Aydin said, adding that “Two of the deaths were due to people jumping from the building in panic.”

According to the NTV television channel, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Flames quickly engulfed this hotel located at the top of the Koroglu Mountains.

After receiving the alert, firefighters, search and rescue units and medical teams were dispatched from the city center, surrounding neighborhoods and nearby areas.

“The intervention of the firefighters continues”, said Mr. Aydin.

Hotels in the region were particularly crowded due to school holidays.
