They refuse the placement of their children: around twenty people attack social workers in Gond-Pontouvre

This Tuesday, shortly before 2 p.m., a family of travelers protested against a protection measure ordered by the judge concerning a family of five children. The children had to be placed. Around twenty people, furious with this decision, tried to force the doors of the building, which were still closed because reception is by appointment.

“I am in shock when I see the state of the house of solidarity”

“They banged on the door until it broke,” describes Maryline Vinet, vice-president of the Department and elected representative in Gond-Pontouvre, present on the scene with her colleague Thibaut Simonin. The five children were also present but there was no audience. Death threats were also made.

“Some agents initiated discussion and tried to calm the situation, while others took refuge in a sheltered room,” describes the elected official. Faced with the family’s virulence, the staff finally told him to look after the children. When the national police and municipal police arrived, they had all already left. Social workers knew it was a delicate placement.

“The teams were very, very scared. I am in shock when I see the state of the house of solidarity, continues Maryline Vinet, who specifies that the agents will file a complaint. The glass in the front door was broken, and was replaced by a wooden panel.
