History repeats itself year after year: financial hardship at the beginning of the year. School supplies, IPVA, IPTU are just some mandatory expenses at the beginning of the year that culminate in expenses for Christmas and New Year festivities. What to do?
The salary bonus from the Social Integration Program (PIS) and the Public Servant Asset Formation Program (Pasep) is an annual benefit granted to Brazilian workers who meet certain criteria. This government initiative aims to provide additional financial assistance to professionals, whether in the private sector or the public sector.
To be eligible for the bonus for the base year 2023, the worker must have carried out officially registered paid activity for at least 30 days during the year, receiving an average of up to two monthly minimum wages. In addition, you must be registered with PIS/Pasep for at least five years and have your data correctly reported by the employer in the Annual Social Information List (RAIS).
The value of the salary bonus varies depending on the period worked in the base year. Those who worked throughout the year are entitled to receive an amount equivalent to the minimum wage in force at the time of payment. Those who worked for less time receive amounts proportional to the months worked.
To receive the benefit, in addition to meeting the length of service criteria and the salary cap, the worker must ensure that their data has been properly validated in the government system. Compliance with these requirements is essential to guarantee the right to the allowance.
Payment of the salary bonus for 2025 will follow a calendar, depending on the beneficiary's month of birth. The expected order is as follows:
- January: from February 17th;
- February: from March 17th;
- March and April: from April 15th;
- May and June: from May 15th;
- July and August: from June 16th;
- September and October: from July 15th;
- November and December: from August 15th.
Workers must pay attention to these dates and ensure that they make the withdrawal by December 27, 2025 to avoid losing the benefit.
The procedure for withdrawing the bonus varies depending on whether the worker is linked to PIS or Pasep. For those in the private sector and receive payment through PIS, the operation is carried out by Caixa Econômica Federal, with several options, such as:
- Automatic credit to a checking or savings account at Caixa;
- Withdraw at Caixa branches;
- Withdraw from lottery outlets;
- Withdraw using the Citizen Card at self-service terminals.
For public servants benefiting from Pasep, the withdrawal must be made at Banco do Brasil. Options include credit to a current or savings account linked to this bank or direct withdrawal at branches.
To check the right to the salary bonus and the payment schedule, workers have several accessible and practical consultation channels. Information will be available starting February 5, 2025. Channels include:
- Digital Work Card application, which offers a friendly interface for queries;
- Portal Gov.br, which brings together information from various government services;
- Alô Trabalho Call Center, at number 158, which clarifies questions directly.
