A plot of land of 2,500 m2 adjoining the cemetery, rue du 19 mars, was transferred by the municipality of Fauga a year ago for the construction of a multidisciplinary medical center. “This medical office is an interesting and structuring project which corresponds to what Faugatiens need” underlines the mayor, Jean-Marie Puig, “the town hall will support the project leader and the health professionals”.
The owner, Thomas Gaston, dentist in Lavernose, wants to bring together health professionals there. “With my partner, Vittoria Valsecchi, osteopathic physiotherapist, we have always wanted to work together, he underlines, “Multidisciplinary health centers are solutions for the future and, moreover, they make it possible to compensate for the shortage of doctors and paramedical professionals in our rural areas. We share premises, so we pool operating costs and certain equipment. For our patients, travel is reduced and we will have a bus stop nearby.”
Opening in 2026
The 1,100 m2 building will be located in the center of the village. The current Lavernose dental practice made up of two dentists, a dental assistant and a secretary will be located there. Another dentist will join the team.
A physiotherapists’ office will integrate the medical team with access to a 150 m2 sports hall allowing them to meet a significant demand for sports trauma. Health professionals, already established in Le Fauga, in particular the nurses’ office, will take their place there. A dietician, an occupational therapist, a speech therapist, a psychologist, orthoptist, osteopath and a general practitioner are also planned. Other negotiations with health professionals are underway. The opening is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
