The scathing and viral parallel between Anthony Edwards and Victor Wembanyama: “Pretty crazy”

Anthony Edwards and Victor Wembanyama play two of the young stars expected to take control of the NBA in the future. By then, they have just been the subject of a particularly unflattering comparison for one of them on the web.

Certainly, their current level of play does not suggest that their retirement will take long. And yet, at 40 and 36 years old respectively, LeBron James and Stephen Curry will very soon have to resolve to hang up their sneakers and abandon the floors NBA. It is then a memorable page in the history of the league which will turn, and which will give way to another which looks very promising.

Indeed, the candidates to take up the torch from the two veterans appear numerous and each more talented than the other. Among them, Anthony Edwards et Victor Wembanyamavery often described as the future faces of the circuit by experts and simple observers. It must be said that they are both already very dominant despite their young age… while displaying certain disparities.

Wembanyama already superior to Edwards in one area?

Leaders of their respective teams, Edwards and Wembanyama are logically the subject of great attention from opposing defenses… and react to it differently. Thus, the Timberwolves winger recently complains about the double-takes he endures and which force him to part with the ball. Victor Wembanyama warned after his double duel against Jokic: “He must stop this”

Victor Wembanyama: Jokic is one of those players who, even though they take double-headers every night, makes their teammates better. And that’s the kind of player I want to be, 100%.

In other words, the inside of the Spurs wants to follow in Jokic’s footsteps and contribute night after night to the success of his team, even if that means letting his partners shine more than him.

The nuance between this point of view and that of Ant therefore seems clear and has not escaped Internet users. Several of them also reacted to it on Xpraising Wemby’s approach over that of his counterpart:

@jtakuz: The difference in mentality is pretty crazy

@AlexWitt66007 : It’s true, Wemby is light years ahead of Ant when it comes to mentality

@RS_1037 : Wemby is light years ahead of Ant in general

@jokergotgame : Wemby is such a nice guy, he’s done literally everything right so far in his career and he’s progressing at breakneck speed

To see if these comparisons, which are anything but laudatory for the Olympic champion, will continue to be drawn up, or if the latter will review his positions.

While Anthony Edwards railed against serving his teammates in two-man takes, Victor Wembanyama praised Nikola Jokic’s altruism. Enough to trigger more pleasant parallels for the French than for the American.
