LINCOLN, Neb. — Press release provided by the University of Nebraska Athletic Department:

Lexi Rodriguez of the University of Nebraska, Olivia Babcock of the University of Pittsburgh, Brooklyn DeLeye of the University of Kentucky and Sarah Franklin of the University of Wisconsin are the four finalists for the 2025 Honda Sport Award in the category, as announced by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) on January 6.

The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for 49 years, honoring the best female athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, and symbolizing “the best of the best in college sports.” The sports award winner will become a finalist for the prestigious title of Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the 2025 Honda Cup, presented during a live broadcast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards presented by Honda on CBS Sports Network in June.

The volleyball finalists were selected by a panel of experts and coaches from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). The winner of the Honda Sport Volleyball Award will be announced after voting by administrators from more than 1,000 NCAA member institutions. Each NCAA member institution has one vote.

Rodriguez finished her career with the Huskers in December, having been named a four-time AVCA All-American, four-time All-Big Ten selection, and three-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. She was a finalist for the AVCA National Player of the Year award in 2024 and was the first libero to receive AVCA Region Player of the Year. Rodriguez is the University of Nebraska’s all-time leader in receptions with 1,897. She is also a two-time Academic All-American and aspires to earn a third distinction on Jan. 14 when teams are announced Academic All-America.

The CWSA, celebrating its 49th year, highlights the best female athletes in the NCAA for their excellence in sports, leadership, academics and volunteerism. Since its partnership began in 1986, Honda has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants to winning and nominated universities, supporting the development and success of women’s sports programs.
