It is a ping-pong match between Madagascar and Mauritius since the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) has entrusted the organization of the 29th edition of the CAVB Club Championship – Zone 7, for the senior men’s categories and women, in Mauritius. The previous edition was held on the Big Island, and the 2025 edition is scheduled from February 22 to March 1 on the Île aux Dodos, which hosted the 2023 version.
This regional face-to-face brings together the best clubs from the Indian Ocean, in particular from the Comoros, Mayotte, Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion and Seychelles. The champions and vice-champions of Madagascar are respectively the Club National de Volley-Ball de la Gendarmerie (GNVB) and Akany Sambatra Itaosy (ASI) for the men’s and women’s categories.
During the 2024 edition, two clubs from Réunion, Tampon Gecko Volley-Ball (TGV) and Saint-Denis Olympique (SDO), defeated the men’s and women’s teams of GNVB in the final on their home ground. For men, the TGV, led by Lala Be, remains a thorn in the side of the Gendarmes. This defending champion eliminated the four-time regional champions in the quarterfinals in 2023.
On the women’s side, the SDO confirmed its supremacy in the final against the GNVB, which participated for the second time. The first team beat the second in the third-place classification match in the 2023 edition, and last year the Reunion champion team triumphed in the final, beating the Malagasy champion team 3-0 .
