The Merengue team relied on young players to secure a convincing 5-0 victory.
Real Madrid celebrated the Epiphany holiday with a resounding victory at the Cartagonova Stadium, advancing to the knockout stages of the Copa del Rey after defeating Segunda RFEF side Deportivo Minera with an impressive score of 5-0. During this match, the less frequent starters of the white team showed all their power.
Goals from Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, twice from Arda Güler, and a highly applauded Luka Modric marked the match, where Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappé came on in the second half.
Minera, currently eighth in Group 4 of the Spanish fourth division, previously caused a surprise by eliminating La Liga side Deportivo Alavés on penalties in the previous round. However, they posed no real danger to a Madrid side making their first appearance in this Copa, fielding a revamped team as they prepare for a Supercopa semi-final against Real Mallorca in Saudi Arabia just three days later later.

Valverde was the only player from Carlo Ancelotti’s squad to retain his place from the previous match, which they won 2-1 at the Mestalla.
In less than three minutes, Fran Martínez prevented Güler and then Endrick Felipe Moreira in two one-on-one situations. However, Valverde took advantage of a defensive error by Minera to open the scoring in the fifth minute. Endrick’s push and Brahim Díaz’s precise cross into the box contributed to the moment.
After taking the lead, Madrid doubled the lead in the 13th minute, Camavinga scoring with a header from Fran García’s cross, after the French midfielder had already tested Martínez.

Minera’s continued turnovers, mirroring their style of play from the back but failing to pass, were quickly punished by Madrid’s players, who had already started to take control of the match before the first quarter of an hour.
Minera almost reacted, but Omar Perdomo’s long-range attempt from midfield went wide of the goal as goalkeeper Andriy Lunin was off his line.
Madrid maintained their serious approach to the game, with Endrick, Brahim, Camavinga, Modric, Valverde and Lorenzo Aguado all close to scoring. Güler added a third goal with an individual effort that deflected off Fran Molina in a first half in which the visitors dominated, with Modric receiving applause from the Cartagena fans with every touch.
The first half ended 0-3, with Fran Martínez the key player for Llano del Beal, while the fans celebrated with an ola in the stadium. The match was a festive occasion.
This festive atmosphere continued in the second half. Brahim had two more chances, including a shot that hit the post, while Endrick failed to find the net and Minera tried to react with a strike from Perdomo, which ended up in the arms of Lunin. Finally, Modric showed all his class to increase the advantage, and his name resonated in the stands.
The flow of chances for Madrid did not dry up, with Fran Martínez containing a barrage of shots against his team. Ancelotti also renewed his team, making four quick substitutions as Vinicius, Mbappé, Lucas Vázquez and young player Chema Andrés came on in the 63rd minute.
In the final third of an hour the intensity dropped slightly, as is often the case in such situations, but further chances continued to pile up in the home area. Güler completed his double on a pass from Fran García after an incisive run from Mbappé. Meanwhile, Endrick, who kept pushing, left the field without scoring and in a slight state of frustration.
