Fatou Sow, the only witness to Niagues’ marital drama, who was seriously burned, died yesterday, after three weeks spent fighting against death in hospital. His testimony was eagerly awaited to lift the veil on the exact circumstances of this fire.
The arson attack in Niagues recorded a new victim. The cleaning lady employed by the Seck couple died yesterday, Sunday January 5, 2025. A death which brings to three the number of people who died in this fire which continues to haunt the daily lives of the inhabitants of Niagues.

Indeed, it is in this locality that a strong explosion that occurred on the night of Friday December 13 to Saturday December 14, 2024 caused residents of the HLM 3 Darou Salam district to jump from their beds, who rushed into the street where they saw the Seck couple’s house being ravaged by flames. Inside, three seriously burned people were screaming in pain, begging for help to come quickly. Despite all the efforts made by the neighbors, who had great difficulty entering the house built like a fortress, the Seck couple (husband Oumar Khary Seck and wife Khady Diouf) could not be saved.
The wife was found in the bedroom, her body charred, while the husband, who had dragged himself into the living room, discovered dying, died a few minutes after the rescuers intervened in the house. The cleaning lady, present in the house during the fire and who tried to come to the aid of Khady Diouf, the wife of Oumar Khary Seck, was saved by the rescuers, before being evacuated to the hospital with serious burns. The couple’s four children, found in their bedroom, were luckier. They were taken out of the house unharmed. If, from the first hours of the occurrence of this case, the thesis of arson was put forward, the fact remains that the testimony of the cleaning lady was eagerly awaited. Both on the side of the investigators of the Niagues gendarmerie brigade and the populations.

Fatou Sow, the cleaning lady, and Khady Diouf’s calls for help accusing her husband of trying to kill her
According to confidences obtained by The Observer with the couple’s neighbors, who say they got it from the servant shortly before she was evacuated by the firefighters, everything took place late in the famous night of Friday December 13 to Saturday December 14, 2024. The Seck couple, who was flailing, had argued again. A heated argument during which the furious husband unfolds his liquidation plan that he had been thinking about for a long time. He violently attacks his wife, before setting fire in the bedroom. Surprised, Khady Diouf, in her frantic fight against the flames, managed to scream with all her might to call for help.
“Help, Seck (the last name by which she called her husband) wants to kill me,” she says. Cries that will startle the servant, who is slightly asleep in a neighboring room, and who will instinctively rush towards the couple’s room. It was far too late: the wife, trapped in the flames, fell heavily. As for the husband who denies and will no longer be able to imagine getting away with it, he is, in turn, blinded by the smoke and caught up in the flames. He still managed to break down the bedroom door and fall heavily into the living room, thus unintentionally allowing the flames to spread throughout the house.

Coming to the aid of Khady Diouf, the cleaning lady, who is said to have succeeded in putting the four children out of danger, will, in turn, be surrounded by the flames. Rescued with serious injuries, taken out of the house and taken to the street by neighbors, she waited a long time before the firefighters arrived. “The neighborhood, with its sandy streets, is difficult to access. Both the gendarmes, for the usual reports, and the firefighters, to remove the lifeless bodies of the two spouses and transport the cleaning lady to the hospital, encountered enormous difficulties,” protested, in his time, a resident of the HLM 3 Darou Salam district of Niagues. The death of the cleaning lady deprives the investigators of a key witness in this marital drama, in which each of the protagonists has taken a part of the truth to their graves. Will this death definitively close the investigation into this case? That’s the whole question.
