After the e-208, it is the turn of the Peugeot e-2008 to benefit from a price drop at the start of the year. The electric car now starts from 36,000 euros excluding ecological bonus, in order to better compete with the Kia EV3, Renault 4 E-Tech and other Ford Puma Gen-E.
Competition is increasingly tough in the electric car market, while the offering is ever-increasing. Without speaking Chinese manufacturerswhich are arriving in force here. And all this obviously scares traditional brands, who find themselves particularly challenged.
A big discount at Peugeot
This is particularly the case for Peugeot, which must face growing competition from Renault. The diamond firm is indeed doing very well with its new R5 E-Tech, which prompted the lion manufacturer to operate a nice discount on its e-208. And that’s not all, because the latter also lowers the price of another of its flagship models, the e-2008. The latter, which we were able to try a little earlier, is now displayed from 36 000 euros on the brand’s website.
Until now, the urban SUV started from 39,250 euros, which corresponds to a generous discount of 3,250 euros. In addition, this price does not take into account the ecological bonus, which ranges between 2,000 and 4,000 euros. With minimal assistance, it is therefore possible to obtain this car for only 34,000 euros. For this price, customers will have the right to a 50 kWh batterywhich offers a range of 343 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.
The 156 horsepower variant, associated with a 51 kWh battery to offer up to 406 km of WLTP autonomy, also benefits from a reduction, sinceit is now announced at 38,000 euros excluding bonuses, compared to 40,250 euros so far. Note that unlike the electric 208, which only offers a discount on the “first price” version, the entire range of e-2008 is concerned here. The Allure variant loses 3,200 euros to start at 38,000 euros and the GT finish has an entry ticket of 39,700 euros, all excluding bonuses.
Very good news, especially since the lion firm is also offering additional discounts at the moment. Enough to upgrade your 2008 electric to only 32,780 eurosall reductions and government financial assistance deducted. All these efforts should enable Peugeot to be able to face competition, which is becoming more and more pressing. First within the Stellantis group itself with the Opel Mokka-e or the Jeep Avenger, but not only.
A real good deal?
That’s not all, because many models are also arriving on the market to try to grab customers from the Peugeot SUV. And this while the electric car market is expected to pick up again in 2025, after a particularly disappointing year in 2024. We are thinking in particular of the new Kia EV3, recently unveiled and which starts from 33,990 euros, with a 58.3 kWh battery anda range of 436 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.
In addition, the equipment is particularly generous, including semi-autonomous driving in traffic jams delivered as standard. Another rival will also try its luck, namely the new Ford Puma Gen-E, which we were able to preview a few weeks earlier. This one is particularly attractive, with an entry ticket announced at 33 990 eurosbonus not deducted. The electric SUV is entitled to a single engine, with 168 horsepower and a 43.6 kWh battery which allows you to travel up to 376 kilometers WLTP.
Finally, the Peugeot e-2008 will also have to deal with the highly anticipated arrival of the new Renault 4 E-Techunveiled at the last Paris Motor Show in October. If the detailed range has not yet been made official, the urban SUV, which we were able to discover, should start below 30,000 euros with a 40 kWh battery, which will limit its range to around 300 kilometers, and be eligible for the ecological bonus. A 52 kWh battery, pushing its range to 400 km, will also be there, at an obviously steeper price.
