A fire broke out on the 3rd floor of an apartment in Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) on the night of Sunday January 5, 2025 to Monday January 6, 2025. The firefighters intervened at 12:10 a.m. 12 rue de la Pie qui boitIntra-Walls.
Several people relocated
It was at the hot water tank that the fire started in a three-story duplex building, managed by the social landlord Émeraude Habitation. The apartment in question was ravaged by flames.
“It was extinguished pretty quickly. There is a lot of damage, but fortunately no injuries,” specifies Céline Roche, deputy mayor of Saint-Malo, present at the scene of the fire last night.
Five apartments evacuated
Five apartments, on the 2nd and 3rd floors, were affected by this fire. Four people were relocated to the hotel by the town hall. A single man and a mother with her two adult children.
Other residents found refuge with relatives. “We aired all night. They should be able to return to their homes during the day,” specifies the elected official. 39 firefighters were mobilized.
