This is a first for several months: the prices of plane tickets to the Antilles fell last December, according to the MisterFly barometer for the Tourist Echo. The ticketing specialist sifted through 100,000 economy class tickets. It appears that our destinations are on the rise.
Travelers who have chosen the French West Indies as their destination for the end-of-year holidays have made a significant saving on the prices of plane tickets previously charged: – 15% on average, or around 134 euros less for the Guadeloupe and – 18%, a gain of 162 euros for Martinique.
On average, in December 2024, according to MisterFly, the prices of plane tickets to these very popular regions have fallen below 800 euros.
The director of this barometer explains that a policy of reviving Antilles destinations is at work, with prices falling sharply. Guadeloupe and Martinique are also, this same month of December, in the top 20 of passengers’ choices, respectively at 13th and at the 19th place. From France, they are only ahead, essentially, of medium-haul and cheap destinations, in Europe itself, or in the Maghreb.
This downward pricing phenomenon is, for our regions, radically opposite to what is happening elsewhere. Indeed, ticket costs generally increase on short and medium-haul flights and remain stable on long-haul flights.
2025 should be a year of moderate inflation with, however, two unknowns, which could change the situation: the price of oil and the potential increase in the tax on plane tickets.
