Colts d’Indianapolis (7-9) – Jaguars de Jacksonville (4-12) : 26-23 ap
The Colts and Jaguars had nothing left to play for this season, but they put up a good fight. Indianapolis led almost the entire match, before logically winning in overtime.
As throughout the match, Jonathan Taylor (34 races, 177 yards, 1 TD) continued the races to lead the Indianapolis attack. Joe Flacco (23/40, 264 yards, 1 TD) only had to complete one pass in overtime to put Matt Gay within reach of a 38-yard field goal.
As it was the first possession of overtime, the Jaguars had a ball to answer. But the attack was swallowed up, with a sack which cost 16 yards on the third attempt, before a too soft pass from Mac Jones (20/32, 225 yards, 1 TD, 1 int) on the final action of the match . Brian Thomas caught the ball well, but too short for the conversion.
Lightning and the tractor
Still starting in place of Anthony Richardson, Joe Flacco made lightning speak from the start of the match, with a 40-yard pass for a touchdown from Alec Pierce on the first possession.
A coup to which Jacksonville responds with a great offensive, concluded by Tank Bigsby (14 races, 39 yards, 1 TD). The Jags even take the advantage (7-10).
But Jonathan Taylor harasses the opposing defense and finds the end zone (14-10). As the kicking continued, the Colts led 20-13 at the break.
A complicated ending
The second half is much duller. The defenses tighten the game and the attacks are clumsy. An interception for Jones. A missed kick for the Colts.
Finally, it was on a slightly confused action, with a fumble from Parker Washington (2 rec, 15 yards, 1 TD) covered by himself that the Jaguars equalized in the last quarter (20-20). After an exchange of field goals, Flacco possessed the winning ball with just under 2 minutes remaining. Lack. Fortunately for him, his team took the second chance in overtime.
The Colts won’t make the playoffs, but they improve their record a bit.
