Formula 1 | Will Verstappen lose 3 tenths by becoming a father?

As Max Verstappen and his partner Kelly Piquet are expecting their first child, we can expect the four-time world champion to slow down!

In any case, this is the assertion of his mentor, Dr Helmut Marko, advisor to Red Bull, who however does not think that Verstappen's (expected) loss of rhythm will be a problem for the team.

“In general, it is said that after having their first child, drivers will drive three tenths slower,” it's Marko.

“That means Max will be within reach of some of the top riders but he would still be a bit ahead of them, so that means there is no problem.”

The theory is not shared by everyone and even less by Max's father, Jos Verstappen.

“No, that's rubbish. I think it just motivates. It didn't bother me when I was a pilot.”

“Max has known for a while that he is going to be a father. This idea didn't really bother him at the end of the season. You just have to look at how he won the race in Brazil. He already knew it at the time, and me too.”

“It may sound crazy, but I knew he was going to be a father before he even told me. I saw it coming. I know my son well and I just have to look at him.”

“For him, I am very happy. Of course, he will have things to do and additional responsibilities, but he has to live through all that.”
