Forward Frank Vatrano has signed a three-year extension with the Anaheim Ducks.
The 30-year-old made the announcement on Sunday, posting a video on social media where he is accompanied by his daughter.
“I see how bright our future will be here. We are on the right track to build a winning culture and bring the Stanley Cup back to Anaheim,” said the right winger.
According to Pierre LeBrun, Vatrano’s new agreement is for a total amount of $18 million. However, he will have an annual salary of $3 million, since half of the amount of his contract will be granted in deferred money. The hockey player will receive $900,000 annually for 10 years, starting in 2035.
Vatrano’s plan would be to settle somewhere other than California, a high-tax state, after he retires from professional hockey. By choosing this type of contract, he ensures that he keeps more money in his pocket.

Vatrano joined the Ducks via free agency in July 2022, after playing for the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers and New York Rangers.
So far in 2024-25, the American has hit the target nine times and provided 11 assists for 20 points in 37 games.
