It is a decision with serious consequences which was announced on November 15 by the DNCG, the financial policeman of French football, against OL: a ban on recruiting and a demotion as a precautionary measure in Ligue 2 to the end of the season. An earthquake for this historic Ligue 1 team which says a lot about the club’s financial situation. Faced with this threat, John Textor, president of OL and Laurent Prud’homme, general manager, took a major decision to resolve this problem.
OL have appealed and will be heard on January 10
Annoyed at having received the official document one month after the appearance before the body instead of 48 hours on average, OL decided to appeal before the truce reveals L’Equipe. John Textor and Laurent Prud’homme will be heard on January 10 before the FFF Appeals Commission. The French daily reveals that the two men want to present themselves with new financial elements including 80 million which would have already been paid in December and early January according to management. Management would also like to present the funds raised by the sale of Jeffinho and that of Gift Orban, the expected sale of Luiz Enrique and Igor Jesus to Botafogo, an Eagle group club owned by John Textor and the reduction in payroll with the departure of Anthony Lopes and the possible departures of free players at the end of the season. But OL specifies that the request has very little chance of being accepted and that OL wishes to obtain flexibility on the recruitment ban in order to complete the arrival on loan of Thiago Almada.
