Ahead of Manchester United’s crucial Premier League match against Liverpool this Sunday, manager Ruben Amorim has spoken openly about the alarming state of mind within his squad. The Red Devils find themselves in a difficult run, having lost their last four matches, including three in the league, and the team having failed to find the net in any of them.
Amorim reveals that this poor performance creates a feeling of “anxiety” among his players. “Players are anxious, and sometimes they are afraid to speak out on the field,” he said, emphasizing the need for leaders to come forward in these difficult times. “We have to deal with this mindset. It is crucial that our leaders stand up and support their teammates, and as head coach, I take the greatest responsibility to improve our performances.”

He went on to note the observable struggle within his team: “You can see that the players are giving their all, but their anxiety overwhelms them at times, making it difficult to play the game as they should. It’s undoubtedly a difficult time, but we are determined to help them improve.”
Since taking over last November after Erik ten Hag, Amorim has had a difficult start, with six defeats in eleven matches under his leadership. This series has left Manchester United in a precarious situation, just four places and seven points above the relegation zone, adding further pressure to an already tense situation.
