Lara Colturi experienced a special Saturday in the northwest of Slovenia. Above all, the Italian who skis for Albania finished 2nd in a race won by the untouchable Sara Hector. This second place is historic for the young skier (18 years old) since she has never been on a giant podium before. But beyond the result, it was the manner that appealed, especially since Colturi had a little scare in the first round.

The daughter of Daniela Ceccarelli, Italian Olympic champion in Salt Lake City, badly negotiated a door, which she hit violently with her right arm. Result: its protection came off.

As shown in the image above, one of the two yellow shields, located on each of Lara Colturi’s forearms, hit the door from the side and did not withstand the impact.Image : rts

The native of Turin could have been disturbed, to say the least embarrassed by this mishap, but that is not the impression she gave. She may not even have realized that she had lost a piece of her equipment in the adventure: when she crossed the finish line, Sara Hector, already comfortably seated in the leader’s chair, tapped her right arm several times in the direction of Lara Colturi, to point out to her that she had lost her protection during the race..

Rast loses his mind

Things went even less well for the Swiss since the best Swiss (Lara Gut-Behrami) only ranked 6th, while Camille Rast finished in 8th place. A result which does not allow her to retain the lead in the general classification, now occupied by Sara Hector.

Wendy Holdener fell to 18th place on the second course while Michelle Gisin, fourth and last Swiss qualified for this second round, could not do better than 26th.

Fribourg-Gottéron could take advantage of the dynamics of the Davos tournament to defy all predictions in the championship, especially since their new coach knows how to do it.

In Davos, Gottéron made an excellent impression in his first two appearances against top European teams (3-2 ap defeat against Pardubice and 6-4 victory against Kärpät Oulu). Thanks to these results, the Dragons qualified directly for the semi-finals of the tournament, which they will play on Monday.
