King’s Cup: Martin Hongla eliminated by Getafe

Martin Hongla will not go far in the King’s Cup this year. The Cameroonian midfielder has just been eliminated by Getafe at Los Cármenes. It was during the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey against Getafe. Indeed, the Indomitable Lion and his family did not manage to get rid of José Bordalás Jiménez’s foals. His compatriot, Allan Nyom was not in the running.

However, the meeting started on a good note. Granada, playing at home, had the support of the supporters. The club playing in Liga 2 tickled Getafe throughout the first half. It was a question for Fran Escribá to advance to the round of 16. With an attractive game and beautiful transitions, the red and whites increased their offensive attempts without succeeding in taking cover. Except that opposite, there was a Getafe team well organized defensively.

We had to wait for added time (90+3) to see Getafe throw the cold at Los Cármenes. Borja Mayoral, who entered a few minutes earlier, sealed the fate of the match (0-1). Granada therefore leaves the competition after a good performance. Martin Hongla and his team must now concentrate on Liga 2 with the aim of moving up to La Liga. After the 21e day, Granada is at 7e championship place with 33 points.
