Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is determined to show that he is still the king of the Tour de Ski. The Norwegian, who had to skip competition last winter, won the 20 km skiathlon in Val di Fiemme on Saturday, winning his fourth victory in six events. With a big final sprint, the 28-year-old champion crossed the finish line ahead of the Italian Federico Pellegrino and a second Norwegian, Jan Thomas Jenssen.

Among the Swiss, Beda Klee had to settle for 29th place. Janik Riebli finished all the way back, 60th.

On the women’s side, the victory was also Norwegian, the champion Therese Johaug offering herself a third success this winter since her return to competition after a two-year break. The Austrian Teresa Stadlober surprised by achieving her first World Cup podium in five years, finishing 2nd ahead of the Norwegian Astrid Øyre Slind. Nadine Fähndrich took 24th place, one day after her sprint triumph. Anja Weber finished behind her, 25th.
