Late in the afternoon, Thursday, December 2, a 33-year-old man was killed and another injured in a shooting probably linked to drug trafficking, in the popular Mosson district, in , reported Free Midday. The prosecution indicated in a press release that “the context in which the acts were committed suggests that they are linked to a settling of scores, without it being possible to state this with certainty at this time”.

According to initial investigations by the Montpellier judicial police, the two victims were parked in a vehicle when they were targeted by shots from two people traveling on a scooter. The vehicle was discovered on fire a few minutes later. The shooters are still being sought this Friday. Hit by several bullets in the abdomen, the 30-year-old died from his injuries in hospital. The second victim, a 24-year-old man, was hit in the leg and his life is not in danger. One of the two victims was convicted in the past for drug offenses.

On the social network X, the mayor of Montpellier, Michaël Delafosse, reacted to this murder: “I condemn in the strongest terms this assassination, undoubtedly linked to drug trafficking. Once again in our country, drug trafficking kills. » The councilor thus called “to a powerful mobilization of the State but also of the whole of French society in the face of what is becoming a systemic threat to national cohesion.
