Mia Mottley is head of Caricom for the next 6 months. Since January 1, 2025, the Head of State of Barbados has held the rotating presidency of the Caribbean Community. She succeeds Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada.
In a long message, Mia Mottley expressed her wishes for the region. “How we act, united as a people and as nations, will define not only this year 2025, but also the legacy of our generation,” she declared in particular.
The Prime Minister of Barbados also spoke of the two major crises that will shake the Caribbean basin throughout 2024.
The multi-factor crisis in Haiti demands urgent, thoughtful and compassionate solutions, and we pray that the stability of our relations with Guyana and Venezuela will persist.

“It is in our unity that our strength lies”, also launched Mia Mottley who intends to continue her fight in favor of countries vulnerable to climate change.
A message which also mentions the resumption of negotiations towards a single Caribbean market. Negotiations interrupted by the covid crisis.
