The luxury House begins the year 2025 with an anniversary activation dedicated to its work in collaboration with the Japanese artist.
Louis Vuitton and Murakami, a comeback in colorama
In the early 2000s, Takashi Murakami made an impression by giving color to the famous Louis Vuitton monogram under the supervision of Marc Jacobs, then artistic director of the label’s Women’s collections. Twenty years later, the Parisian trunk maker intends to seduce nostalgic people and Y2K fashion fans with an anniversary collection made up of more than 200 pieces.
Officially launched on January 1 with a major campaign featuring American actress Zendaya, this line is essentially composed of leather goods as well as fashion and lifestyle accessories reflecting the playful aesthetic specific to the artist.
It includes bestsellers from the initial collection, here revisited through the prism of new technologies allowing a new level of finishes in terms of colors and patterns to be achieved. Among them, the flower-smiley – recently seen at the watchmaker Hublot, another brand of the LVMH group – or the now famous Monogram Multicolore and its 33 shades here affixed to bags such as the Keepallthe Dauphinethe OnTheGothe Speedy or even the Cushion. For the first time, the collaboration sIt is also available on certain Louis Vuitton perfume bottles and boxes, whose references Dream Catcher et Imagination.
Showcases, cinema, goodies… Serial activations
In addition to the establishment of dedicated showcases and the installation of several pop-up Around the world, this anniversary collaboration also gives rise to the screening of the films “Superflat Monogram” and “Superflat First Love” in spaces set up in the Louis Vuitton boutique on the Champs-Elysées and that of Place Vendôme. Within the latter, the House has also imagined a vending machine allowing customers to win small stamped objects Louis Vuitton x Murakami by inserting a token obtained following a purchase in store.
Last December, Louis Vuitton formalized the upcoming release of this anniversary capsule by inaugurating “Flower Parent and Child”, a thirteen-meter statue depicting two flowers perched on a logo trunk, an exclusive work designed in collaboration with Takashi Murakami.
This collection will give rise to a second chapter: announced for next March, this one will highlight the cherry blossom motif, Cherry Blossom.
