Donald Trump, a few weeks before he actually takes office, has given an unexpected emphasis to his destiny: the territorial expansion of the United States. Since mid-December, the president-elect has multiplied short phrases and messages on social networks to underline the enormous economic and security interests that America would gain from taking control of Greenland and Panama.
The future leader, faithful to his mentality as a real estate developer looking for new projects to expand, has already demonstrated his imperialism. In the fall, he proposed to Canada to become the « 51e État » and called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a « governor ». If the Canadian ambition seems only a bad joke, the aims on Panama and Greenland are, to a certain extent, much more serious.
