Rising energy prices: what really changes for your bill in 2025

Faced with changes in energy pricing announced for 2025, concern is growing among Algerian consumers. The new finance law indeed introduces changes which will impact households and manufacturers differently, with a moderate increase for individuals but a major upheaval for the industrial sector.

Households will see their electricity bill increase through the introduction of a new fixed charge. This increase will be gradual depending on consumption. Households using between 70 and 190 kilowatt hours will have to pay an additional 25 dinars, those consuming 190 to 390 kilowatt hours will see their bill increased by 100 dinars, while the largest consumers (above 390 kilowatt hours) will have to pay an additional fee. tax of 200 dinars. For natural gas, however, individuals can breathe easy. The State maintains current subsidies in full.

It is on the industrial side that the reform promises to be the most radical. Large companies will have to face the gradual elimination of their natural gas subsidies. This dismantling will be spread over several years, first affecting the largest consumers (more than 200 million cubic meters per year) from 2025, before gradually extending to other industrialists until 2029.

At the same time, the State is planning a major investment plan of 98 billion dinars to modernize and expand the energy network. An envelope of 27 billion dinars will make it possible to connect 44,000 additional homes to the gas network and 22,000 others to electricity.
